Eurovision week in Burgas, 11–15 May 2027

For one week next May, all eyes in Europe will be on the Black Sea.
Bulgaria has never hosted Eurovision before. That changes on 11 May 2027, when the 71st Eurovision Song Contest opens at Arena Burgas.
The schedule:
- Semi-final 1: Tuesday 11 May
- Semi-final 2: Thursday 13 May
- Grand final: Saturday 15 May
Why Burgas? Four cities bid to host: Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna and Burgas. Burgas beat Sofia in the final round. Eurovision director Martin Green praised the city as vibrant and welcoming, with a strong musical and cultural identity and the infrastructure to host the event.
Burgas is Bulgaria’s fourth-largest city, home to just over 225,000 people. It is known for its beaches, its Sea Garden park and a busy calendar of music and arts festivals. Arena Burgas, its newest sports and entertainment centre, was completed in 2023.
Bulgaria as the host country. BNT wants the contest to be bigger than one city. Sofia, Plovdiv and Varna will all be part of the accompanying programme. As the Burgas mayor put it, the goal is for Europe to experience Bulgaria through Burgas.
Getting there: Burgas Airport is a short distance from the city centre, with airlines including Ryanair, Wizz Air and TUI flying in.
This is the biggest chance in years to show the world what Bulgaria is: warm, creative and full of music. Let’s make it count.
